Due to the developing forest fires on the north island, I am cancelling the September VIME event

You may be aware that over the past 48hrs a number of forest fires have sprung up in the Sayward Junction, Gold River, Woss area.

While the North Island remains open for backcountry travel (for the time being at least), the locations of the fires are close enough to the planned routes to require a go/no-go decision sooner rather than later.

I am therefore calling the event off as of today Friday 14 Aug 2026.

The Labor Day Weekend event will not go ahead.

I will be making a refund of entry fees to those of you who have paid for entry.  I hope my gesture adds to your confidence in the way I run VIME.

Meanwhile, I wish you all safe travels in this testing time.
