Day 2 of the moto-TSD rally was (intentionally) a test of Roadbook navigation in contrast to Day 1 which had a little more emphasis on DS/adv technical riding skills.
The route set out from the very comfortable Sayward Valley Resort campground, heading towards Campbell River (town) by way of the Johnstone Straits / Discovery Passage coasts and Pye and McCreight lakes for the lunchtime fuel stop before returning to Sayward Junction across the old logging roads that crisscross the Campbell River catchment basin.
230km was the total, some did a little more, some a little less.
On the day, Matt Cooper inserted himself into the results having solved his tech difficulties that kept him out of the frame on Day 1.
The three event leaders, Marshall Jankovsky, JP Tondreau and Stan Shingler however consolidated their positions on the leaderboard as 123.
Tomorrow sees a return to the mountains with a further trip to Woss by yet new routes before the final finish and reckoning at Sayward Junction.
I would like to express by profound gratitude to The Sayward Valley Resort owners and staff for their hospitality and kindness. A very good place to base your explorations of the north of Vancouver Island.
JDB.
