Work continues productively on the VI Motosports Events for next year.
The Great Canadian (motorcycle) Roadbook Rally has three written-up roadbooks now.
Days 1 and 2 are 300km each, day 3 is 155km.
Each route is tailored to be equally appropriate to riders of DS and Adv bikes and will be tests of navigating and timekeeping rather than technical riding.
The theme of finding new routes continues, across the mountains and rivers of the north island.
The autumn and winter will be spent scouting for a suitable hill for a hillclimb and once the ravages of the winter have passed, the routes will be ridden to see what is still passable and the timing markers will be placed.
A new offering for 2026 will be the 24 Heures du GoldRiver for the September Labour Day holiday weekend.
Prompted by a 24 hour Roadbook rally in Greece this September, a similar event is being prepared for next Labour Day holiday, the first weekend in September 2026.
Run to the same “Regularity Raid” principles as other VI Motosports Events, a 800km in 24 hours event weekend has come together. Prologue on Friday 4 September to set the start order and provide a shakedown opportunity, with a Saturday morning start and Sunday morning finish and a wrap-up on Labour Day Monday.
Both events are squarely aimed at producing authentic motorcycle motorsport competition with a low bar to participation. I you have wondered about participating in motorsport but thought it was out of your reach, these events are designed to show you otherwise!
More teasers to follow.
