Friday afternoon market research…. 24hr gravel road rally anyone?

Today something positive popped up on my social media, an advance advert for a 24hr gravel rally in Greece….

I am a fan of endurance sports, never been much good at them as a participant but, Oh! The Drama! The Emotion!! The Efforts!!!

And then, Ping! The vision! There could be a 24hr/800km/500mi gravel road motorcycle marathon rally on the north of Vancouver Island run along TSD principles.

A quick internet search gave the locations and opening hours of the petrol stations (as armies march on their stomachs, motorcyclists are propelled by their gas…). Yes there are petrol stations open 24hrs a day on the north island and the opening hours of the others would facilitate a 24 hour event.

The vision.

Assemble on a Friday for signing on and briefings.

Start Saturday morning from 1200hrs after a hearty breakfast.

Route by pdf roadbook. Timing by GPS rally timing to GoldRiver rules.

Compulsory rest stops of one hour early evening, two hours in the small hours and one hour mid morning for breakfast. 20hrs riding. 500mi. 25mph/40Kph ave.

All riders have a Gaia with which to “unloose” themselves should they get lost. Routes NOT supplied as Gaia routes. Bivvy bag and space blanket for unplanned overnighting.

Perhaps the first weekend in September 2026.

Finish at 1200 the following day at the start cafe for a late breakfast.

Go home either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

I would need say ten confirmed entries in order to commit to this epic.
