Try-a-Roadbook weekend. No entry fee. Port Alberni Easter Saturday and Sunday 4&5 April 2026. 1100hrs start

TRY A ROADBOOK weekend. Port Alberni.

Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday. 4th and 5th April. 1100hrs start both days.

Following on from my previous posts about this informal taster weekend, I can now make the following announcements.

The two routes will run on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday - there is another mid-island dualsport/adventure bike run on Good Friday.

The Saturday route will start from the junction of Woodward Rd and Canal Main/Stirling Arm Rd, opposite the Port Alberni motocross track.

The Sunday route will start at the junction of Cameron Main and Ship Creek Main.

BOTH DAYS START AT 11:00 hrs. The second ferry of the day from Tsawassen arrives at Duke Point at 0945. The first ferry from HSBay arrives at Dep Bay at 0800. Lower Mainland people, your journey could not be simpler. Sunshine Coast people, catch the 0835 HSB ferry - I will wait for you.

There is a potentially challenging section on both day’s routes.

On the first day it is Kanyon Main - steep climb, leafy and potentially the last stretch to see the last of the winter snow.

On the second day the challenge is Fauna Main, same difficulties, steep climb, leafy, north facing.

Both these difficulties have easy work-arounds. Details will be given on the morning of - if you haven’t already worked out what they are… ;o)

You will need:

A road-legal ds or adv bike

A handlebar mounted smartphone with Rally Roadbook Reader app and these two roadbooks loaded (go to the link below).

Come alone, come with friends. Come with Gaia or your preferred mapping app. I can’t guarantee the weather…

Please let me know if you intent to attend. If you have any questions, please ask.
