VIME introduction to roadbook motorcycle rally.

Date and time Sun 7th May, 10am to 5pm.

Venue Parksville Quality Foods supermarket, upstairs in their community room. They have a very good takeaway food section and are happy for the community room users to eat and drink what they have bought from downstairs. 371 Alberni Highway, Parksville.

The day will equip motorcycle roadbook rally-curious riders with the basic skills and knowledge to successfully complete a roadbook rally. This isn't a motorcycle riding training day, but a rally training day.

The day will cover:

What the motorsport of Rally includes and specific details of motorcycle roadbook rally.

The smartphone apps used in VIME rallies and satellite SOS calling systems.

What to do when you get really lost and how to find yourself again.

How to read a roadbook and work the timing system.

Over lunch, review the roadbook for the afternoon trial rally....

The 45Km afternoon rally will have exactly the same format as the summer events, published roadbook pdf for you to load up on your preferred display system, determination of starting order and interval, Departure, flying start, hidden timing Control Points, a neutralised zone for fuelling, set average speeds, time penalty points, a gravel Forest Service Road section, flying finish and arrival collection point. There will be event results - although no prizes other than the admiration/congratulations of your colleagues.

The presentations are written, the course has been scouted, the roadbook written, the CPs placed and the leg timings worked out.

Completion of the day will give you all the knowledge needed for the summer's VIME events.
